FRANKFORT, IL — Several artists from the Lincoln-Way area will have their work on display at the 66th annual Park Forest Art Fair Sept. 17-18 in downtown Park Forest, according to a news release from Tall Grass Arts Association.

Frankfort artists Margi Hafer, Richard Schmidt and Mary Ann Trzyna will be joined by Mokena artist Catherine Trezek to have their artwork on display during the two-day fair, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in downtown Park Forest at The Village Green between Western Avenue and Orchard Drive.

“This is the second oldest juried art fair in the Chicagoland region, and it has maintained its quality over the years,” event Chairwoman Janet Muchnik said.

Hafner is a multi-media artist currently working predominantly in watercolor, acrylics and mixed media collage. Schmidt works in oils and watercolors. Trzyna's current work is landscape and still life paintings in pastel or oil. Trezek works in oil paintings.

All the local artists exhibited their work last year at the Park Forest Art Fair, as well.

Visitors at the art fair will see a wide range of artistic media, including ceramics, etchings, sculpture, photographs, paintings, digital art works, jewelry and hand-blown glass.

In addition to the many pieces of art on display, visitors will be treated to live music, food vendors will be on site and a special Kids’ Art Alley will be open with a range of hands-on art activities for aspiring and up-and-coming young artists.

Music is scheduled to be performed Saturday Sept. 17 by: LondayKay Experience at 11:30 a.m.; Raices Latin Jazz at 1:15 p.m.; Blend Acoustics at 3 p.m.; American Prayer at 4:45 p.m.; and Fredi Taylor featuring Nu Source Band at 6:30 p.m.

Food vendors scheduled to be on site during the art fair include Poppin’ Plates, Exquisite Pound Cakes, Flaming Hotties and Terrel’s BBQ.

The Park Forest Art Fair is a not-for-profit event, so the costs to artists are very low. “Consequently, [artists] can sell their works at very reasonable prices," Muchnik said. "This is the fair where people can buy originals for very reasonable prices.”
